The belt levels denoted by different colors are the grading system within Tae Kwon Do and the Martial Arts. It is a way to account for student achievement and a guide for students to set their goals. The color of a belt is not important, the time and sweat given to a particular belt is. AIMAA has a formal testing structure and students must pass a formal scheduled test. Testing is a process which should be taken seriously. It is not only tour technique that you are testing, but also your attitude and mental conditioning. Dedication and mental discipline are an important part of a student's evaluation.
The progression of belts in our school is: White Yellow Orange Green Blue Purple Brown Red Black The Belt system provides recognition for time and achievement. Belt Advancement provides goal setting and well as a test where feedback is given by the instructors of your school. The promotion provides motivation for you to continue enthusiastically throughout your training as a beginner, an intermediate, and advanced practioner. Grading requires each student to execute all techniques at their best ability and to display an overall sense of serenity while doing so. Each student is judged on an individual basis. Consistant grading provides an environment fundamnetal to developing of your character as a martial artist. Please do not compare yourself to anyone else. Sometimes it takes a bit longer for some students to advance. Please be patient and do not rush testing. When the instructor believes that you are ready, you will test.
